WhatsApp proxy support – To help keep users connected, WhatsApp has introduced an update with proxy support. This update will allow users to continue using the messaging app even if their connection is disrupted or the app is blocked.

If you are unable to connect to WhatsApp directly or if the app is blocked in your country, WhatsApp provides the option to connect through a proxy server. These proxy servers are set up by volunteers and organizations that strive to enable secure and unrestricted communication.

Connecting through a proxy does not affect the privacy and security measures in place on WhatsApp. All messages and calls made on the app are protected by end-to-end encryption, which means that they are only accessible to the sender and intended recipient and cannot be accessed by anyone else, including WhatsApp, the proxy servers, or Meta

How to Find a Proxy to Use WhatsApp

To assist users in connecting to WhatsApp, you can set up a proxy using a server with open ports 80, 443, or 5222, and a domain name (or subdomain) that points to the server’s IP address.

To connect to a proxy on Android:

  1. Ensure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp.
  2. In the Chats tab, go to More options > Settings.
  3. Tap Storage and Data > Proxy.
  4. Tap Use Proxy.
  5. Tap Set Proxy and enter the proxy address.
  6. Tap Save.

A check mark will appear if the connection is successful. “If you are unable to send or receive WhatsApp messages even after connecting to a proxy, it is possible that the proxy has been blocked. In this case, you can try deleting the blocked proxy address (by long pressing on it) and entering a new proxy address to try again.

To connect to a proxy on iPhone:

  1. Ensure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp.
  2. Go to WhatsApp Settings.
  3. Tap Storage and Data > Proxy.
  4. Tap Use Proxy.
  5. Enter the proxy address and tap Save to connect.

A check mark will appear if the connection is successful. If you are unable to send or receive WhatsApp messages even after connecting to a proxy, it is possible that the proxy has been blocked. In this case, try again using a different proxy address.
