Windows 11 Officially Roll Out to Come By Oct 5 as Free Update

Microsoft Windows 11 operating system will officially come into the light as the official update will start rolling out gradually from October 5. The Microsoft windows update will be free for eligible Windows 10 users and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start to become available for sale.

It was made known on Microsoft blog that eligible devices will get the update first, then the update will roll out over time to other devices based on intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics,  and other factors that impact the upgrade experience.

Microsoft expects all eligible devices to get the free upgrade of Windows 11 by mid-2022. It is further described as an update ready to empower user’s productivity and inspire creativity.

Below are the 11 key highlight features from the new Microsoft 11 OS;

  1. The new design and sounds are modern, fresh, clean, and beautiful, bringing you a sense of calm and ease.
  2. The New Start menu, allows you to start utilizing the power of the cloud and Microsoft 365 to show your recent files no matter what device you were viewing them on.
  3. Snap Layouts, Snap Groups, and Desktops that provide a more powerful way of multitasking
  4. Chat from Microsoft Teams integrated into the taskbar that provides a faster way to connect to the people you care about.
  5. Widgets, a new personalized feed powered by AI, provides a faster way to access the information you care about, and a faster way of accessing the web through Microsoft Edge.
  6. Windows 11 delivers the best Windows ever for gaming and unlocks the full potential of your system’s hardware with technology like DirectX12 Ultimate, DirectStorage, and Auto HDR. 
  7. it comes with a new Microsoft Store rebuilt with an all-new design making it easier to search and discover your favorite apps, games, shows, and movies in one trusted location.
  8. it is the most inclusively designed version of Windows with new accessibility improvements that were built for and by people with disabilities.
  9. Windows 11 unlocks new opportunities for developers and creators. The new Store will allow more developers and independent software vendors (ISVs) to bring their apps to the Store, improving native and web app development with new developer tools.
  10. Windows11 is optimized for speed, efficiency, and improved experiences with touch, digital pen, and voice input.
  11. The OS is designed for hybrid work. It will deliver new experiences that work how you work, secured by design, easy, and familiar for IT to deploy and manage.

Windows 11 will also support Android applications through a partnership with Amazon and Intel. However, this feature won’t be available at launch. A preview of the feature will be made available to Windows Insiders over the coming months.

To join this program and try Windows 11 out early,

  • Goto  Settings > Windows Update and
  • choose “Windows Insider Program” to opt-in.
  • The update will then become available to you under the Windows Update tab.
