Report; Apple Dominates World Tablet Applications Processor Market

A deeper look into the market shows that Apple is dominating. The worldwide tablet market is welcoming new products from some existing contenders. According to a report from IDC that came in January this year, the overall shipments of the tablets declined in Q4 2019. But, still, Apple managed to lead the race with a maximum number of shipments than others in the league.

Now, according to a new report by Strategy Analytics, Apple gained the top spot in the global tablet Application Processor (AP) market in 2019 as well.
Apart from Apple, Qualcomm Intel, MediaTek, and Samsung LSI are on the top spots with the highest revenue share in the tablets processor market. To be precise, Apple led the market with a 44 percent revenue share in 2019 followed by the other four.

Tablet Applications Processor

Sravan Kundojjala, Associate Director said that the tablet shipment is declining and this continues to be a challenge to tablet application processor vendors. But it is interesting to note that Apple’s A-series is taking strides and outdoing other processors from major companies. But it is impossible to know how many iPad units Apple sold throughout 2019 because the company does not report unit sales for any of its products.

After Apple, the next major players in the market were Qualcomm and Intel, both of which accounted for 16% revenue. Also, a combination of other companies under “Others” accounted for the remaining 24% of revenue, including Samsung and MediaTek. In total, Strategy Analytics estimates that the global applications processor market grew 2% year-over-year to reach $1.9 billion in 2019.
