Microsoft unveils Surface Laptop Go with Intel 10th-gen i5 processor $549

Microsoft unveiled a couple of latest Surface products, as well as a refreshed Surface Pro X and the Surface Laptop Go, the company’s most inexpensive laptop for now.

The Surface Laptop Go boasts of a 12.4-inch Pixel Sense touch screen display with 1536×1024 pixels resolution, which is only 148 pixels-per-inch. It runs on an Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor based on the Ice Lake platform. The processor has been joined with a 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC storage. This is the configuration of the base option that is available for purchase at $549, at a launch price. There are other superior variants which are also offered with 8GB/16GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB/256GB SSD.

Microsoft maintains that the new Laptop Go has the capacity to offer up to 13 hours of battery life with usual device usage. The Laptop Go also tenders a fast-charge with 80% battery life in an hour of charging.

The Microsoft Laptop Go features a full-size keyboard that presents 1.3mm key travel for an easy typing experience, together with a huge accuracy trackpad located under. The fingerprint scanner is designed into the power button for Windows Hello biometric verification. The fingerprint scanner as well allows one-touch sign-in for other Microsoft services like OneDrive Personal Vault. Note that the base model doesn’t consist of the fingerprint power button.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go offers a USB Type-A port, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Surface connector for charging. It comprises of a 720p camera, Studio Mics, Omni sonic speakers with Dolby Audio tuning, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0.

Price and availability

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go is priced at $549 (base option 4GB/64GB) and it arrives in Ice Blue, Platinum, and Sandstone color variants. It will be on hand for pre-order on the Microsoft Store in the US today and it is projected to be available through other outlets from October 13th. Microsoft has so far not disclosed the pricing information for other SKUs in the listings.
