Microsoft Starts Windows 10 Update Global Roll out

Microsoft has officially announced the global rollout for Windows 10 version 2004 aka Windows 10 May 2020 update. It is a major update for the operating system that powers over a billion PCs around the world. It is packed with numerous changes including new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.

The all-new Windows 10 May 2020 update brings small but noticeable improvements to the native Notepad application. It will now show an asterisk in the title bar to reflect that the note contains unsaved changes. There is support for quick text zooming and new find/replace functionality to improve productivity. Similarly, the native Calculator app can now be set to stay on the top of everything so that numbers are always visible to you.

The update adds a chat-like interface to conversations with Cortana digital assistant. A user can make queries either by speaking or by typing them. The new UI will make it easier to keep a track of the conversation and users will be able to go back to a question to check what did Cortana replay.

Your Phone app support has been expanded to include ARM-powered PCs from Microsoft and its OEM partners. It is an app that enables users to receive/reject phone calls directly from the PC without having to interact with the phone. It can also be used for checking messages, sending replies. checking notifications, and accessing photos/videos from the phone on the bigger laptop/PC screen.

These are some of the major changes but the update has a lot more to offer. Microsoft has begun the rollout in a phased manner which means not everyone will receive the OTA update notification at the same time. It can take weeks and even months before all of the billion devices get the alert. If you are someone who has not received the update yet and do not want to keep waiting either, you can head over to the official download page and get started.
