iPad Pro killer display upgrade to come sooner than expected

Although Apple just released the latest iPad Pro in March this year a lot of rumors have been circulating for a while now that a new model with a Mini-LED display is been designed. Based on the recent leak, it is possible that it arrives quicker than expected.

This new report is coming from Korea’s ETNews, which states that LG is positioned to supply Apple with the Mini-LED displays it required in designing the new iPad Pro, which its mass production is set to begin at the end of this year. With this, the iPad Pro should be ready in the early part of 2021 just a year after the launch of the latest iPad Pro unveiling.

Just if you don’t know the new Mini-LEDs present a boost on the existing OLED and LCD displays we’ve always see in other phones. It’s made up of little clusters of LEDs that use fewer powers than a straight LCD display while presenting superior colors and contrast compared to OLED displays, as well as a cheap threat of the burn-in that can influence OLEDs after extensive periods of utilization.

Based on what a popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says (via MacRumors), implementing the Mini-LED display in the iPad Pro is the first step towards the mass-usage of Mini-LED technology. Currently, the tech is not really used making it expensive. But seeing as the iPad Pro is famous for its high cost and quality feature-set, it’s the ideal prospect to initiate the new displays.

According to Kuo, as soon as that occurs you’re likely to witness a rush of companies trying to battle to supply future displays. That could reduce the price of Mini-LED displays and let them be employed in other devices.

Most especially Kuo forecast that before the end of 2021 there will be at least six Macs and iPads with Mini-LED displays. Ultimately, with sufficient time and price reduction, it might be introduced to the future iPhones, and perhaps still Apple Watches. Almost certainly not on the iPhone 13, if Kuo’s predictions are accurate, but maybe the iPhone 14 and upward.

It is also believed that this Mini-LED iPad will come with a 12.9-inch display, 5G, and an A14x chip. It is expected to be fairly a machine, particularly if it also consists of the LiDAR scanner launched back in March.
