Apple’s next-generation “iPhone 12” will incorporate “high-end” lens arrays in its rear-facing camera design, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known research analyst related to Apple’s product lineup.
In the past couple of months, we have seen numerous reports about the possible iPhone 12 camera setup. Ming-Chi Kuo latest research notes claim that iPhone 12 series will feature high-end camera components supplied by Largan.
Kuo mentions that these components will help Apple deliver improved image quality. However, it is unclear exactly what makes these components “high-end” and exactly what kind of improvements should be expected. He further says that Apple will be seeing delays in the supply of these components that will run into weeks.
The exact delay is said to be around four to six weeks which is likely to be due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Apple usually receives these components somewhere between August and October but due to the delay, these will now arrive between September and November. This should have some effect on the launch of the iPhone 12 series models as well.
Apple is widely anticipated to introduce 5.4- and 6.1-inch “iPhone 12” models this fall with dual- and triple-lens systems akin to last year’s lineup. A top-tier 6.7-inch “Pro Max” model might also be augmented by a LiDAR scanner borrowed from iPad Pro. A new iPad Pro-inspired design, updated “A14” processor, 5G connectivity, 120Hz ProMotion display technology, and smaller TrueDepth notch are also rumored.
